The Stewards Program

The Equine Sciences Stewards (ESS) Program is designed to further prepare motivated and driven Equine Sciences undergraduate students for leadership roles in a growing and ever changing Equine Industry.  Equine Sciences Stewards will be provided with numerous leadership / development opportunities in addition to a series of seminars designed to further develop professional skills.

The program is competitive and limited to 20 students. To be considered for admittance, students must submit both a current resume and a complete application by Wednesday, March 30th, 2016.  Applications will be reviewed by Equine Sciences faculty and endorsement of your application must be granted by at least one faculty member. Those not accepted may be considered the following year.

If accepted, students will gain opportunities to interact with Equine Sciences faculty and staff on a more individual basis. Regular meetings will be devoted to and focus on professional development skills and career identification.  Some stewards may also be invited to travel with faculty and staff to professional meetings, conventions, seminars, etc.

Benefits to the Equine Sciences Steward:
  • Lead a Surviving ANEQ group with a faculty member
  • Individual interaction with faculty and staff
  • Opportunity to further enhance and develop your leadership and public speaking skills, and to  interact with other student leaders
  • Networking opportunities
  • Opportunity to promote the program at events in Colorado and across the U.S.
  • Stewards may be provided with Equine Sciences apparel as available

The program begins in the fall semester of each year. Regular meetings will be scheduled throughout both regular semesters and attendance at these meetings is required.
